THE LEONARDO MUSEUM IN VINCI
Castle of the Counts Guidi - City of Vinci
The Exhibits are made possible through the generosity of IBM ITALIA and the CASSA DI RISPARMIO DI SAN MINIATO.

Located in the medieval Castello Guidi (11-12 cen.), the Leonardo
Museum dominates the small city of Vinci. It was inaugurated April 15,
1953, at the conclusion of the celebration of the fifth centennial of
Leonardo's birth, with the first exhibit dedicated to models of machines
inspired by the designs of Leonardo. The Museum continually enriched its
collection with new materials and models. The opportunity to permanently
house the exhibit realized by IBM ITALIA, "Laboratorio su Leonardo",
which before arriving in Italy in 1986 had travelled for three years to
Italian and foreign cities, gave rise to a complete renovation
of the museum. The restoration of the whole building was financed by the
CASSA DI RISPARMIO DI SAN MINIATO. Today, thirty years after its opening,
the Leonardo Museum of Vinci displays anew its splendid collection.
